Day Treatment Program

BBRC offers a comprehensive day treatment program for individuals who have sustained a traumatic brain injury or other catastrophic injury. The program is individual and group based. Through the use of a multi-disciplinary treatment team approach, a wide variety of modalities are used to address various limitations based on the severity of injuries, as well as the individual's pre-injury composition. Treatment planning is based on the results of each discipline's assessment. These results are combined to address not only the physical and cognitive limitations associated with mild to moderate brain injury, but also the psychological and behavioral components that are frequently ignored or overlooked in other rehabilitation programs.

The BBRC program feels very strongly that without appropriate interventions to address all functional performance components, the individual who has been injured will not be provided a truly holistic approach to their rehabilitation and the remediation of the entire spectrum of functioning.

The day treatment program runs from 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m., Monday thru Friday.

Future Day Treatment Plans

The day treatment program is expanding by developing a second track for those individuals with brain injuries who require long-term intervention. The purpose of this track is to help individuals gain a sense of meaning and purpose in their lives. This track will provide structure in a much more relaxed way than the original program. Individuals will be provided with social activities, leisure/recreational opportunities, cooking exercises, along with computer activities. This type of program serves a two-fold purpose. It provides individuals with the aforementioned items and allows the doctor to monitor the clients from a close medical perspective.

This program will be geared to the individuals who have gone through their initial intensive therapy and still require on-going monitoring, structure, and stimulation to prevent regression. The goals include increasing independent living skills, developing and participating in a variety of recreational leisure opportunities, working on cognitive skills and increasing self-confidence and overall satisfaction with life as a brain injured individual.

The program will be customized to meet each individual client's needs and may be either a half day or full day.
