At BBRC, the physical therapist also provides relaxation/therapeutic exercise sessions that provide the patient with the opportunity to relax, relieve stress, and improve their physical condition. Patients participate in these sessions in small groups with others whose functional level is similar to their own. During these sessions, a variety of activities are incorporated including stretching and relaxation exercises, strengthening exercises, and activities designed to challenge the client and improve balance, coordination, endurance, and overall tolerance of movement.
Music is frequently incorporated which assists patients with relaxation skills, as well as encouraging movement and self-expression. The group facilitates communication and provides the individuals with opportunities to improve interpersonal skills. The goal of relaxation/therapeutic exercise sessions decreases stress in addition to improving their physical condition.
